INNA WILL BE SO HAPPY TO BE A GRANDMA

Image
Sixteen-year-old Aliya waved in response to the greetings of her friends, who were washing at the river as she strolled past them. She was heading to in particular. She just wanted to get out of the house and have some breathing space from her nagging parents and headstrong younger brother.  As she walked through the village, she greeted no one, only waved to a few people who called out her name. Her mind was racing through different thoughts.  Maybe, I should go see him and tell him. Yes! That would be the best option, Haliya thought, and she began to increase her pace. “I will meet him before he leaves for the farm,” she said, assuring herself. She got to Hassan's house just as he was about to leave. He was already locking the door when she walked into the open-spaced compound with no gate. He put up a broad smile when he saw her, and in his usual manner, he hailed her.  “What a wonderful morning to behold the beauty of the priceless gold of Arabia.”  “This is not ...

The Secret Is To Start. It works Like Magic!

Image
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you don't know how to go about a task— what to write, design, draw, etc? I'm sure you have! It's quite common for every creative. Sometimes, I find myself in that ditch and I'm left to wonder if I am beginning to lose my creative flair. It happened a few weeks back when I wanted to pen down a creative write-up on a certain subject and I didn't even know how to go about it. I felt weak and inept.  After a long period of brooding and exhaustion, I just had to brace myself and open my writing software to begin writing. To my surprise, the ideas came flowing like a river. When I was done, I read my piece and was wowed, convinced that nothing had happened to my creative flair. It was still intact.😃 You don't need to have it all figured out to start. Break down ideas into small pieces and work towards expanding them. It sure works like magic. When you do so, that Herculean task will be ticked off your list. Creative C...

How to Fail as a University Student: Practical Guidelines for Wasting Your Academic Years

Image
I think success is overrated! Why stress yourself over lectures, assignments, stifling deadlines and personal growth when you can just enjoy campus life to the fullest, without worrying about the future? If your goal is to graduate with regrets, wasted opportunities, and no sense of direction, follow these 6 foolproof steps to failure. Trust me, they work like magic! Procrastinate Like a Pro There's no rush in life. I don't even see the need of starting early to work on assignments, and projects or even prepare for tests and examinations. That frenzy that comes with waiting for the last minute and running after lecturers or course reps to submit assignments and project works cannot be likened to another. So, don't worry or get yourself worked up over deadlines. You've got to take things slowly and at your pace. Who likes stress by the way? Avoid Attending Lectures   You can agree with me that lectures are extremely boring. Having to sit or even stand (as the case may be...

Lost in the Scroll: How Social Media is Redefining Our Reality and Identity.

Image
We live in a world where constantly scrolling through social media has become the order of the day. It is now a huge part of our lives that we can't but always scroll, double tap, send a reply, or swipe up to comment. In Mass Communication, there's a theory called The Cultivation Theory , proposed by George Gerbner. It suggests that the more people consume media, the more their perception of reality starts to align with the world portrayed on screen. It’s like a slow and steady process of shaping how we see things. If someone watches a lot of violent content, they might start believing the world is more dangerous than it is. On the other hand, if someone binge-watches romantic movies, they might develop unrealistic expectations about love and relationships. At dinner tables, classrooms, meetings, timeout with family/friends, and other social gatherings, we keep checking our phones for the latest gist, notifications and all, that we slowly begin to drift from what...
